Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month with Dunwoody's Bianca Hughes, LPC

May is a time to shine a light on the importance of mental health as it plays a pivotal role in our day-to-day lives, productivity, and overall well-being while we celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month across the globe. It is more important than ever to bring attention to the different resources and outlets available to support individuals in their life journey’s, whether it be navigating work-life balance, prioritizing stress management, or increasing awareness of health and wellness, there is always room to grow. Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to sit with Bianca Hughes, founder of Authentically Be You- one of Dunwoody's top-rated counseling and wellness studios, as she broke down her journey into the wellness industry and answered leading questions of tips and tricks to manage your health in an on-going world of change.

In our Q&A session, Hughes shared her passion for helping individuals navigate their mental health challenges while breaking the barriers of perfectionism to find peace in living an authentic, fulfilling life. In our session, she emphasized important topics around perfectionism such as observing physical activity and nutrition, preventing burnout through productivity, and being more cautious about the environments around you. "Awareness is key, analyze what energizes you, what brings you joy, and what drains you- those are the key factors to look into to care for your health and to be around more; Increasing your activity in the things that energize you and bring you joy and decreasing activities that may drain you are main things to keep in mind," she concluded.

Since opening its doors on Jetts Ferry Road in 2018, Authentically Be You has become a cornerstone of the community, with Bianca at the helm, dedicated to helping people uncover their true purpose and break free from the constraints of perfectionism. "My goal is to help you peel back the layers to discover the treasure within you, authentically be you, and live a purpose-driven life," she states. After earning her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Richmont Graduate University and becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and Florida, Hughes found her dream come true in Dunwoody, where she passionately works towards making a lasting impact on others' lives.

As Mental Health Awareness Month draws to a close, it's important to carry forward the insights and practices that nurture our well-being. Hughes left us with a message of encouragement for those who seek to prioritize their mental health on a daily basis. She highlights how letting go of perfectionism is a significant step towards mental health. Perfectionism can be a heavy burden, preventing us from embracing our true selves. By allowing ourselves to be imperfect, we align more closely with our truth and live more authentically.
